Our expertise in the Education Sector

Lifts for schools, colleges, campuses and nurseries

Perhaps more than any other kind of building, it's essential that educational institutions can provide safe, easy access for all - and that goods can be moved reliably and safely.

We have decades of experience working with architects and building professionals to install, refurbish and maintain safe, hardworking passenger and goods lifts in all kinds of educational buildings.

Every lift is compliant with the relevant regulations, including the school building construction frameworks, and Part M of the 2010 Building Regulations. We've also worked within the Building Schools for the Future and Priority School Building Programme - and with recent announcements that schools will get extra funding for building and refurbishment through "Project Speed", there's never been a better time to invest in new lifts.

Meeting the needs of the building, the student, and the school

Designing and installing lifts that fit within your space is vital - but ensuring those lifts extend equality of movement to all is more important still.

We help staff and students get around with passenger lifts and platform lifts that cater for every access requirement, in line with the Equalities Act 2010.

For example, we've used the wheelchair-friendly Midilift SL vertical platform lift to give academy access over three floors, and designed a bespoke lift entrance considering the complex needs of students with severe learning, sensory and mobility difficulties.

For further piece of mind, we can also provide secure lifts with key or password operation, to prevent unauthorised use.

Behind the scenes, our service and goods lifts make sure everything gets to where it needs to be safely and securely - whether it's library books, food for the canteen, or heavy science equipment.

Lifts that last for decades

Whether you're moving people, equipment of goods, the education sector certainly puts our lifts through their paces. But when they're taken care of, they can last for decades. In fact, two of our longest-serving lifts are at UK educational institutions:

  •   This hard-working three-person Piccolo lift was installed at a West Midlands nursery in 1990,
when the building was a residential care home (proving just how versatile our lifts are).
  •   Our longest-serving dumbwaiter is a custom microlift that has been moving food and
tableware between the kitchen and refectory of a Sussex boarding school since 1974 - in
service for so long that we've lost the paper record!

Disruption-free service from DBS-checked engineers

Every Stannah engineer that works on educational sites is fully-licenced, including regular DBS checks, to meet your safeguarding needs. We take care of all the disruptive work - like installation - during school holidays and other downtime, so we don't get in the way of your staff and students.

For larger institutions with a lot of lifts or a wide variety of different types, we can appoint you a dedicated engineer who will always be on hand to make sure your lifts are operating to the highest standard.
